Workshop Overview:

What is Breath Work?

The brief and accessible description of Breathwork is controlled hyperventilation. Acute stress is brought on by actively inhaling deep belly breaths and passively exhaling in a steady uninterrupted flow. Every inhale immediately followed by an exhale and so on for a specific amount of time. When we breathe in this way, we release stress and held emotions that we sometimes do not even know we have. Breathing exercises have been in use for thousands of years for health and longevity, carrying blood and oxygen to the brain and organs. It is the fastest way to alkalize the blood; it also invigorates the blood cells hyper-oxygenating them. We now know in modern science that disease is caused by the blood being too acidic; it also helps balance pH levels. Deep belly breathing is a way to reach the alveoli, which are tiny sacs. Their function is where the lungs and the blood exchange oxygen and carbon dioxide during inhaling and exhaling; these are super tiny, inflatable sacs are in the lower part of our lungs.

The Workshop

Eric will begin by leading us in clarifying our intention for the breath work session. Once everyone is crystal clear on what they hope to gain and learn from the experience, Gianni will lead us in a 60 to 90 minute breath work session where we will bring our awareness into our intentions and go from there. We will conclude with a Q&A and refleciton.

Be prepared to work this is a Breath work class led by Gianni Neiviller and assisted by his lovely wife Kiki Neiviller. To start some Qi gong (so much fun) activates the systems of the body to lead us into the breath work . Gianni leads us in with images of waves opening up dynamic breathing as if the breath is a wave washing from the belly through the lungs and out and in again cleaning and clearing stuck energy and detoxing the body. While this is happening Gianni guides you with questions that inspire you to open up your mind to release stuck emotions. Yes I did have a few tears of release and the next week was experiencing detox symptoms and muscle aches from the work. Do you have some questions first?

IS BREATH WORK LIKE MEDITATION OR YOGA?

It is a form of meditation, but it's more active, meant for healing rather than relaxation. It does lead to a highly meditative state afterward.

HOW LONG IS A SESSION?

Between 50 to 70 minutes from start to finish, including introduction, the setting of intentions, integration, and authentic relating immediately following the breathing.

WHAT DOES A SESSION ENTAIL?

We inhale and exhale through the mouth while lying down, preferably on the floor without a pillow under our heads.

WILL THERE BE MUSIC?

Yes, there will be music. and verbal guidance.

CAN I BE OUTDOORS WHEN TAKING ONLINE CLASS?

Yes, as long as there aren't any distractions and you could hear the audio.

WILL I GET DIZZY OR PASS OUT?

You may feel a little light-headed and fall asleep.

CAN I GET HURT?

No, but it's not a good idea to stand up immediately after practice as you may fall, and it is not recommended to practice while standing, driving,

or in water.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT TO FEEL IN A SESSION?

Release of emotions

Body temperature fluctuations

Body stiffening, especially in the hands or jaw known as tetany

Muscle tightness

Tingling or electric

Body movement, shaking, or undulating

WHAT ARE SOME CONTRAINDICATIONS?

Asthma

Aneurysms

Cardiovascular disease and/or irregularities including prior heart attack

Detached Retina

Epilepsy

Glaucoma

High Blood Pressure that is not controlled with medication

History of strokes or seizures

Osteoporosis

Pregnancy

Prescription blood thinning/anti-clotting medications

PTSD

Bipolar disorder or schizophrenia
